At this stage of the legislative process, public hearings are mostly done with the exception of Appropriations and Finance. Dr. Mirza currently serves as a Managing Partner at Central Connecticut Cardiologists, LLC, and as an Attending Cardiologist at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut. His academic affiliations include Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Assistant Professor at the Frank H. Netter M.D. School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. His expertise is further recognized through his fellowships at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Connecticut, and his current fellowships with the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan, and the American College of Physicians.
Beyond his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Mirza is a dedicated leader and advocate. He has demonstrated exceptional commitment to his community through his founding presidencies of the Allama Iqbal Medical College Alumni Association of North America and the Connecticut Chapter of the Association of Physicians of Pakistan Descent in North America. Dr. Mirza also served as past president of the Association of Pakistani Cardiologists of North America (APCNA). His impactful community activism includes raising awareness and addressing critical health and social disparities faced by Asian Americans at both local and national levels.
His dedication to public service is evidenced by his appointment by the Governor of Connecticut as a Commissioner for the Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission, where he provided vital testimony before the Connecticut General Assembly. His contributions have garnered significant recognition, including the 2018 American College of Physicians Connecticut Chapter’s Volunteerism Award and official citations in 2021 from the Connecticut General Assembly President Pro Tempore, Mr. Martin M. Looney, and the Secretary of State of Connecticut, Ms. Denise Merrill.
Dr. Mirza’s influence extends to the broader medical community through his lectures at numerous cardiovascular conferences and symposia, and his significant organizational work in conducting multiple national and international conferences focused on youth empowerment and training in cardiovascular medicine. His commitment to advancing cardiovascular care and empowering future generations of medical professionals is truly commendable.
